A BIG TEXAS WELCOME from our team at TexSmiles!
Our goal is to make you feel comfortable at your new dental home.
We can't wait to get to know you!
What should I bring with me?
- Your insurance information and insurance card
- Valid form of ID
- Your current list of medications, medical problem list, history of past surgeries
- A parent / legal guardian / grandparent / aunt / uncle if you are under 18, under usual circumstance. Please refer to Texas Family Code, Chapter 32 for specifics regarding minors and consent to dental treatment.
What should I expect?
It's only natural to feel nervous about going to the dentist. We want you to know that it's OK - we understand. Our job is to make you feel as comfortable as possible and to ensure that you have a pleasant experience with us.
Your dentist will complete a thorough exam which will include carefully evaluating your teeth, gums, jaw joints, among many other things. Any findings that your dentist may have will be pointed out and discussed with you. This is meant to be an open conversation between you and your dentist so that you fully understand what is going on and how we can help you fix it.
At TexSmiles Dental, your questions and concerns are very important to us, and we will always address these so that you can make an informed decision regarding your treatment.
I don't want an exam or X-rays. Can I schedule for only a cleaning?
At TexSmiles Dental, we believe in providing you with the most accurate diagnoses of your current dental conditions. Think of it this way - a surgeon would not operate on you without performing an examination and taking an MRI or CT scan - he would be operating blindly.
Dental treatments must be supported by findings from an examination and current dental X-rays. What type of dental cleaning you need, along with other dental problems you may have, can only be assessed after a thorough evaluation of your teeth and gums. Without the correct treatment, your problems may get worse.
If you are worried about exposure to radiation - rest assured that we use digital X-rays at TexSmiles Dental, so you will receive only a negligible, minimal amount of radiation.
If you are moving from another dental office and already have up-to-date X-rays (less than 6 months old), please make arrangements prior to your scheduled appointment at TexSmiles to have your previous provider transfer your current X-rays to our office. Please note that x-rays must be of diagnosable quality - if we determine that they are not, new x-rays must still be taken.
